Privacy Policy

Your files never leave your browser, and the site uses no tracking cookies - here is exactly what that means for your privacy.

The short version

krun.ch is built to need as little of your data as possible. The file tools on this site – zipping, unzipping, measuring compression and checking a file’s fingerprint – run entirely inside your own browser. The files you choose are never uploaded, never transmitted and never seen by any server. There is no account to create and no sign-up to complete. This page explains, in plain language, what that means for your privacy.

Your files stay on your device

This is the most important point, so it comes first. When you use a tool on this site, the file you select is read and processed locally by your browser using a compression feature built into the browser itself. Nothing about the file – not its contents, not its name, not its size – leaves your computer or phone. No archive you create or open is stored anywhere by krun.ch, because the work never reaches a server in the first place. That is true whether the file is a holiday photo or a confidential document.

What the website itself records

Like almost every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps standard access logs. A log entry may include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and the browser you used. These records exist to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to guard against abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you and are kept only for as long as they are useful for those purposes.

Cookies and analytics

krun.ch does not use advertising cookies and does not track visitors across other websites. If aggregate visitor analytics is used, it is a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool that counts page views in totals only – it does not set cookies, does not follow you from site to site and does not collect personal information. You can browse and use every tool here without accepting any tracking.

Some guides mention or link to third-party tools and resources as examples. Once you follow a link away from krun.ch, you are on a site with its own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover. It is worth reading the privacy notice of any service before you upload files to it.

Your rights and how to reach us

Where data protection law applies – including the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and the EU General Data Protection Regulation – you have the right to ask what personal data, if any, relates to you, and to request its correction or deletion. Because the tools process nothing on the server, there is very little personal data to hold in the first place. Questions about privacy can be sent to [email protected], and the contact page lists the full postal details of the site’s operator.

Changes to this policy

If the way the site handles data ever changes, this page will be updated to reflect it. The date the page was last revised is shown by your browser in the page details, and any significant change will be described here in plain terms rather than buried in legal wording.
